Summer Strength & Conditioning Camp & Summer Speed Camp

The OA Performance Center and Gorham Recreation Department have partnered to provide a Strength and Conditioning camp as well as a Speed and conditioning Camp for youth athletes between the ages of 12-18 years of age.  Training will occur at the USM Gorham Fitness Center and Fieldhouse

Strength Training:  The focus would be on total body strength/injury prevention.  Workouts will include a warm up (stability, mobility, flexibility, and muscle activation techniques).  This will be followed by a workout that will include weight training, medicine balls, and plyometrics.  At the end a cool down period which will be primarily focused on flexibility work and post workout nutrition.  There will be 2 different levels of training occurring during the session.  All Athletes will begin at level 1and progress to level 2 as they demonstrate proficiency in their lifts. Performance Testing will be performed on each athlete involved in the training.




  • Session 1         7:30am-8:30am limited to 25 athletes


  • Session 2         8:30am-9:30am limited to 25 athletes


  • Cost $252 per session per athlete per session




 
SPEED & CONDITIONING CAMP  
These sessions will:




  • Provide a total body warm up routine to improve mobility, balance, stability, cardiovascular endurance, and motor skill coordination.


  • Strengthen the muscles used in sprinting allowing an athlete to cover more ground per stride


  • Lay out step by step how to maximize an athlete’s acceleration. Proper joint angles and ground force application is taught so that every athlete will understand how to continually develop and refine these newly learned skills throughout his or her career.


  • Instruct the athlete on our deceleration method which will decrease the potential for injuries during the season


  • Educate the athlete on the importance of biomechanics to decrease the potential for Injury and enhance multi-directional speed and quickness


  • Sessions will end with a metabolic challenge to provide a conditioning base for the season


  • Provide education on the foods needed to improve athletic performance


  • All sessions are supervised and guided by our professional Strength and Conditioning Coaches who are nationally certified




Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:00am-9:00am
14 Session Camp
$168 per athlete
Open to athletes entering 7th-12th grade
