Facilities Maintenance Manager/Programmer
The Town of Gorham is accepting applications for the full-time, hourly position of Facilities Maintenance Manager/Programmer with the Recreation Department. This is a working management position responsible for handling all aspects of athletic fields and parks maintenance including, but not limited to, maintaining parks, fields, landscaped areas, gymnasiums, restrooms, and various equipment. Participates in the coordination and supervision of various recreation programs, special events, and activities; transports program participants to events; and supervises part-time seasonal employees and volunteers. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Recreation Director, but independent judgment and ingenuity must be exercised in accomplishing objectives.
Before and After the Bell staff
Duties include providing a safe environment for children to have fun and be active, managing children’s behavior in an appropriate manner. Prior experience working with children required.
The hours of the position are normally 7 am – 9 am and/or 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm, Monday-Friday, 10 -29 hours a week. The work schedule may change based on the needs of the program and activities.
Summer Day Camp Counselors
Summer Camp Counselors assist the Summer Camp Director in providing a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for children enrolled in the Summer Camp program. Duties include carrying out the daily camp schedule and promoting camper involvement in all activities. Counselors must be willing to remain attentive to campers and engaged at all times by actively participating in camp activities and role modeling positive behaviors. Pay ranges from $12 -$15 per hour, depending on experience.
Summer Day Camp Field trip Counselors
Field Trip Counselors assist Camp Counselors in maintaining the safety and well-being of campers at all times while on field trips, especially during aquatic activities. Duties include actively participating with campers in camp activities, helping ensure campers are accounted for at all times, and encouraging camper involvement in activities. Field Trip Counselors act as positive role models to campers and help Camp Counselors provide a safe, healthy, and fun experience for camp program participants. Pay starts at $12 per hour, but candidates with current CPR/First Aid certification and/or Lifeguard certification are eligible for additional compensation.
Summer Day Camp Directors
Town of Gorham’s Recreation Department is seeking a highly responsible, patient, and enthusiastic individual to supervise all Camp Counselors and Counselors-in-training. The ideal candidate must have the ability to connect with all age groups, to plan safe and exciting activities for summer camp participants, and respond effectively to conflict. Perhaps most importantly, the Summer Camp Director must know how to have FUN! The pay range is $14 to $16 per hour.
Sports Program Supervisors
This position is responsible for general oversight of the Department’s sports leagues and programs. Acts as a visible representative of the Gorham Recreation Department and provides for a clean, safe, and secure environment. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Youth & Adult Programs Director. Work hours are variable (4-20 hours a week) and generally occur Monday through Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings and afternoons at different sports fields throughout the Town.
Fields Maintenance/Grounds laborers
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Grounds & Maintenance Manager. This position is responsible working on all aspects of athletic fields and parks maintenance. This is to include, but not limited to, maintenance of all the parks, fields, landscaped areas, gymnasiums, restrooms and assorted equipment under the direction of the Recreation Department. The individual in this position will also assist where warranted in programs, special events and activities. Work also includes the responsibility to perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks incidental to the operation of assigned equipment and to lift heavy objects.
