911 Summer Camp

Rookies  Grades 4-5 July 15-19
Cadets   Grades 6-8 August 12 -16

The Gorham Police Department is teaming up with the Gorham Fire Department to host their 2nd annual 911 Summer Camp, where campers will be introduced to the police and fire work fields. The campers will work in a structured TEAM environment. Campers will learn what it takes to be an EMS employee through their core values, integrity, leadership, courage, and honor. Campers will learn about marching practice, police canine, bomb squads, crime scene units, Game Wardens, Police Motor Cycle Officers, Dispatch Center, Animal Control, Forestry Helicopter, and learn First Aid. The class will end each weeks with a visit to the Coast Guard station and tour of their fleet.

There will be two sessions:
"Rookies" Camp will be for grades entering for the fall (grades3,4,5).
"Cadet" Camp will be for campers entering in the fall (grades6,7,8).
The Cadet class will have more hands on experiences with the Police and Fire Departments, such as vehicle extrications, vehicle fires, smoke houses, learning to locate fingerprints and cast impressions.

Lead instructors will be School Resource Officer Mike Coffin and Fire Fighter Dale Leighton . The week long camp will be from 730AM-430PM each day. Students must provide their own lunch and snacks. Fee for the week is $165.00 per Camper.  Maximum campers will be set at 25 for each session.
