A "make and take" cooking class for Kids ages 9 & up
Focusing on fun, each class will explore how cooking uses language, math, science and art to create the food we eat. Our Gorham Rec instructors will introduce participants to the fundamentals of cooking  -from reading and following recipes to the importance of kitchen safety. We will make our own food  - and enjoy our work!

Through individualized cooking experiences participants will:

  • measure ingredients correctly

  • combine and mix ingredients according to recipe instructions

  • identify healthy foods 

  • demonstrate safe methods for preparing food and handling kitchen tools

  • understand some of  the science behind cooking

Fresh Pasta
We will be making egg noodle pasta in a variety of shapes - using tools we can find at home - as well as try out a pasta maker. We will cook some of our pasta, make a quick tomato sauce, a simple antipasto, then set the table and enjoy our work!
Each chef will leave with fresh handmade pasta to share at home, and recipes.
